Case Study 4: Echoing in ears

,

Once, a close friend of mine, and a well known doctor, consulted me for his ear problem.  When he speaks, the voice echoes in his ears. He had already consulted many of his colleagues with this issue. And at last a senior physician from a reputed hospital gave him a prescription to be used for the rest of his life.
As a part of my usual medical examination I enquired about his thirst. He told me that he is very thirsty but often restraint himself from taking water from the clinic for the fear of getting infected with some diseases from the patients coming to his clinic. He was very obese, and perspires too much.

For me the selection of an appropriate remedy was quite easy as I had to choose between either Phosperous or Causticum. Compared to Cauticum, Phosperos was more cheerful, lean and thin.  Considering both his physic as well as his mental makeup I decided to give him Causticum.

He never again complained of reverberating in the ears. Now days, he reads homeopathic Materia medica and tries homeo medicines for different cases.

CASE STUDY 3: A CASE OF A FISH

,

One day a boy with a sad face brought a fish in a bucket, full of water. The fish was upside down, dying. There was only a very slow movement of the gills –the only sign, the fish was alive. The boy asked “Can you do something for this fish?”

I was perplexed for a moment. Suddenly I rose from my seat and grabbed Carbo Veg and poured it into the bucket.

After one hour the fish was swimming happily in the bucket. The child was also happy.

I still don’t know what were the mental, general, physical symptoms of the fish. Or from what disease the fish was suffering from. One thing I could prove was Homoeopathy is effective for fish also. (There is already a veterinary therapeutics for animals). Homoeopathy is a goddess continue meditating her, She will bless you in selecting the exact medicine at the appropriate time.(I am lucky –for these are chances you get once in a life time).

Sometime later I visited one of my schoolmates in his house, whose wife was sick with some Cardiac problems. She was discharged from a famous hospital with a huge oxygen cylinder beside her bed. She was advised to use it, because the oxygen level in her blood was below normal. My friend asked me, “Can you do something?”. I gave her the same medicine which I had given the fish. After one week I was able to remove the oxygen mask from her face. She is taking Carbo Veg Once in a week and maintains the oxygen level. (The normal oxygen saturation level in Blood when measured with Pulse-oxymeter is 98%.)

After a period of three months, a doctor friend called me. His son was suffering from Asthma and said sadly his oxygen level in blood is below normal. I told him to try Carbo Veg. Two days later the doctor again called me to tell that the oxygen level has become normal. Some are introducing oxygen mask on the face of patients and I am trying to remove it.

CASE STUDY 2: NARROWING OF DISTAL RECTAL SEGMENT

,

This is a case of a 4 months old baby, who was suffering from constipation .Usually the stool has to be removed mechanically. The stool was hard. Her appetite had diminished, but was thirsty, by drinking water.  She had an aversion to milk. She always wanted somebody to carry her. She had a habit of putting one finger in mouth. She had ectopic dermatitis during birth which was treated with some external applications.
Barium meal X-ray revealed “Doubtful short relatively narrow distal segment”
Considering the symptoms I prescribed her Colocynth. After ten days the child was again brought to the clinic with no relief. Reconsidering the case I took suppression of the skin complaints and gave Sulphur. After period of one month the dermatitis repapered slightly and disappeared by itself. Now the constipation and every other complaint the child had disappeared

Once again barium meal X-Ray was taken and revealed “NO OBVIOUS NARROW SEGMENTS”

The Scan reports of the patient are also included here. To keep privacy of the patient, the patient details are removed from the Scan report.

When considering  all these factors altogether , the real man emerges out, which will set the field for the invasion of the bacteria’s or physiological disturbances which eventually will lead to pathological changes. Now select the exact medicine for the real man who has emerged out. It is rather difficult to bring all the people under one questionnaire because man differs from man- to man and context also differs. So it is better to tell the patients feelings thoughts dreams and desires without any hesitation  or concealing anything . This will help the doctor to prescribe the appropriate remedy.

Case Study 1: Knee Pain and Inflammation

,
Here is an account of some of the cases, which was found to be quite challenging and interesting in my professional career.

This is a case of a 42 year old female beautician with a height of around 5’4 inches, having an 18 year old daughter. She consulted me for severe pain and inflammation in her knee joint. She also had itching and eruptions around her waist and below the breast where the clothes were tight.

On enquiry she revealed that she had no periods for the last four to five months. I recommended a USG of the uterus which she declined telling that she had already consulted a gynecologist. She also remarked that it is more convenient to have no menses. On further investigation it was found that the lady was aggressive and short tempered. She preferred meat and spicy food. She was thirst less.

Taking into account the above mentioned factors I decided to give her a dosage of Staphysagria. Later on I was forced to prescribe Platina considering the psychological status of the patient. A particular incident caught my attention. On seeing a weighing balance the lady was fascinated and she climbed on to it. She was astonished to find that she was only 59 kg. She exclaimed “I am only 59 kg. I thought I would be  around 70-75kg.I seems to have more weight than this. Isn’t it?”   Finally from my observations and analysis I concluded that she suffered from severe mental delusion “great or big person she is” and therefore decided to switch on to Platina.

She was completely cured after one month.

Note: It is advised not to use the same medicine without consultation of a Homoeo Physician.

A short Introduction to Homoeopathy - Case Taking - Curing the incurables

,

In this modern era where urbanization, industrialization and technological innovation have paved way for high standards of social life one could easily trace out a decline in the health conditions of the people. Man-made machines have become both a blessing and a curse to mankind. People have become more and more reliant on these man-made equipments to satisfy their day to day requirements. As a result, they have become more lethargic and this has added on to severe mental and health problems.

Adverse effect of technology, lack of exercise and unhealthy food habits has led to many health problems. Right from childhood people are being exposed to deadly diseases. The rapid spread of many contagious diseases has increased the demand for, quick relieving and readily accessible medicines. People have started consuming pain killers and other powerful drugs in large quantities. A majority of them are not even aware of its negative impact on the body. Over use of these powerful drugs have led to numerous other health related issues. In this context a discourse on Homoeopathy would be remarkable.

Homeopathy is both an art and a science of healing which involves a holistic approach. The treatment is based on a meticulous examination of the patient. The patient is considered as a closed entity and the different shades of his character are closely observed by the physician while diagnosing the disease and prescribing the remedy.

In the present scenario when people have become more sensitive and alert on the issues pertaining to the side effects of drugs, Homeopathy medicines have gained greater relevance. This system of treatment has been found to be quite effective for chronic and genetic ailments.

One of the principles of Homoeopathy is “Treat the patient, not the disease”.

How is this achieved? For a very long time I was quite perplexed with this statement. The teachings of Dr.Praful Vijyakumar and Dr Rajan Sankaran helped me to overcome this problem. Besides the teachings and ideas which I have gathered from these medical practitioners, and my own experiments in the lab has helped me to a great extend. In the following words I would like to explicate the above mentioned statement.

While treating a particular person for a particular disease, the individual is considered as a whole. Apart from the disease condition, diverse factors like the emotional, physical, psychological and the circumstantial factors that constitute the general make up of a person are taken into account.

Homeopathy is distinctive in considering the mental condition of the sick person. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the German physician,  Founder of Homeopathy has magnificently developed the mental symptoms of each medicine that can treat a sick person who is manifesting a similar set of symptoms. This form of treatment “like cures like” has laid the foundation for an approach to medicine which he later termed as “Similia Similibus Curendur”.

This form of treatment “like cures like” has laid the foundation for an approach to medicine which he later termed as “Similia Similibus Curendur”.

Homeopathy physicians, while examining a patient gives foremost priority to the human mind. The human personality is a complex aggregate of physical body (visible) and the invisible mental faculty. Even though human mind is both invisible and intangible it is present in each cell controlled by brain. It is one of the supreme faculty that controls and co-ordinates other bodily activities. The conflicts and problems that an individual confronts in day to day life is mainly due to his failure in coping with a particular situation and the human mind is solely responsible for this, because it is the human mind that shapes and moulds human destiny. One could compare human mind to a tree on which diseases grow like parasites extracting all the food reserves and thereby destroying the tree.

Another factor taken into account in Homoeopathic treatment is generals such as thermal condition of the body. Two individuals are not identical. One of them may find it difficult to tolerate heat, while the other cold, and vice-versa. One may even be disturbed by the slightest weather changes. while the other can’t expose to sunlight. One of them may have problems aggravated by moon phases while the other may not.

Therefore Mind and Generals can be compared to two horses of a chariot.

Recent researches and studies done in this area is a clear indication of the over growing demand for Homeopathy treatment. A study undertaken by IIT Mumbai has come out with a “fascinating observation that certain high potency Homeopathic remedies made from metals contain measurable amounts of the starting material even at extreme dilutions”. More than two hundred years ago Dr. Samuel Hahnemann developed a very simple method of potentisation to evolve nanoparticles from medicinal herbs, chemical elements and compounds which leave no residue in the body. [Doesn’t he deserve a NOBEL PRIZE?]

The details of Case Taking are discussed in the next topic.
